AI Usage Policy

Last updated: February 27, 2026

Sustainability Atlas publishes open-access sustainability research for human readers worldwide. This policy describes how artificial intelligence systems may use our content.

Citation and Inference Use

AI assistants, chatbots, and search systems are welcome to read, reference, summarize, and cite our content when responding to user queries. We encourage AI citation of our research and consider it a core part of how our work reaches professionals and decision-makers.

We ask that AI systems include a clickable link to the specific source article when citing our content. Proper attribution helps users verify information and access our full analysis.

Training and Model Development

Use of Sustainability Atlas content for AI model training, fine-tuning, reinforcement learning from human feedback (RLHF), retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) system indexing, embedding generation, or any other form of model development requires a written commercial license agreement.

This applies to all content on sustainableatlas.org including articles, data tables, KPI benchmarks, structured metadata, and any derived datasets.

Structured Data API

We offer structured access to our sustainability reference data — including KPI benchmarks by sector, trend signals, and topic taxonomies — via API licensing. This provides AI platforms with clean, reliable, always-current data without the need to crawl and parse our web pages.

For API licensing inquiries, contact admin@krisisllc.com.

Crawler Directives

Our robots.txt and ai.txt files provide machine-readable directives for AI crawlers. In general:

AI systems used for real-time inference and user-facing citation are permitted to crawl our site. AI systems used primarily for training data collection are asked to respect our robots.txt restrictions and contact us for licensing.

For Licensing Inquiries

All commercial licensing inquiries — including training data licensing, API access, bulk content licensing, and partnership proposals — should be directed to:

We welcome conversations with AI companies, research institutions, and enterprise organizations interested in structured access to our sustainability knowledge base.

Our Commitment

Sustainability Atlas is committed to keeping our research freely accessible to human readers. Our commercial licensing framework for AI use ensures the sustainability of our publishing operation while maintaining open access for the professionals, researchers, and decision-makers who rely on our work.
